Erik Satie’s Trois Gymnopédies (1888) are iconic works that mark a break from romanticism, introducing simplicity and austerity that influenced modernist music. Known for their meditative qualities, these pieces distill melody, harmony, and rhythm into stark forms. The title Gymnopédies, while referencing ancient Greek festivals, evokes a slow, introspective atmosphere. Each movement features calm, spacious textures, characterized by gentle rhythms and shifting, unconventional harmonies.

This arrangement for clarinet and piano includes all three movements and is ideal for the intermediate perfomer. This arrangement would also be ideal for soprano saxophone and trumpet too!
