Description

Your Concert Band will really enjoy playing this fun work!

This particular Spanish dance is in the form of a seguidilla. A seguidilla, which loosely means “sequence”, is an old
Castilian folk dance form in a quick triple time for two people, with many regional variations. The music is generally in a major key and the melody often begins on an offbeat.

The piece is written in 3/8 (simple triple) and features straightforward rhythmic patterns from this metre. It is scored for Full Concert or Symphonic Band.

The last section of the work includes a short scale-like cadenza passage scored or cued in the Flute, Piccolo, Eb Clarinet and 1st Bb Clarinet parts. If you don’t have a player capable of performing this, there is an optional cut marked on all scores to simply omit the solos.

* The score includes parts for Eb ClarinetEAlto Clarinet and Bb Contrabass Clarinet as they add new colours to the sound of the band. However, the score is definitely playable without these instruments, as the parts are doubled in tutti sections and cross-cued for solos with more common instrument parts.

An optional piano part is provided for teaching purposes or can be use in a performance if you have insufficient players on some parts (e.g. Horns, Lower Brass, and Xylophone) or you have a piano player in your group.

*If you need additional parts such as Eb Horns or Eb Contralto Clarinet, I am happy to supply these at no extra cost – just add an enquiry above.
