Description
Prima Luce literally translates to “at first light” from Latin. This single-movement work is in the style of a nocturne and features a songlike melody supported by an arpeggiated accompaniment. John Field is widely given credit as the originator of the Romantic era nocturne. Frederic Chopin is known for popularizing it. The initial melodic statement is simple yet becomes more ornamental later on. Overall this piece evokes a sense of relaxation and gentleness.
