Description

This particular Polish dance is based on the style of the Mazurka. The mazurka is written in a bright triple meter such as ¾ and is quite energetic. This piece is written in 3/4 (simple triple) and features straightforward rhythmic patterns from this metre.

It is scored for Full Orchestra.

The score includes parts for the English Horn (Cor Anglais) and Contrabassoon, as they add new orchestral colours. However, the score is definitely playable without these instruments, as the parts are doubled in tutti sections and cross-cued for solos with more common instrument
parts.

  • Optional parts for Eb Alto Saxophone, Bb Tenor Saxophone and Piano part are also supplied. These can be used to add colour or can assist if you are missing instruments, particularly Horns 1 & 3 or the ensemble has
and insufficient number of lower strings.
