LABYRINTH Trio for Flute, Oboe, and Clarinet in Bb

The piece “Labyrinth” tells a fascinating and moving story through three characters represented by the flute, the oboe, and the clarinet. In a fantasy world called Earth, there were three instruments that, from their earliest days, learned to play their first notes and experiment with their own sounds. They radiated happiness with every melody, loved visiting other instruments to harmonize and learn from them, creating endless experiences and lessons through their musical interactions.

However, one day, they lost their way and their musical essence, as if a new type of sound had invaded them and they could no longer recognize it. Plunged into confusion and doubt about their own existence, one bright afternoon, they heard the legend of an old instrument. It told of a portal in the high mountains full of boulders and hidden caves, a magical cave leading to other worlds and dimensions.

The three instruments, fascinated by the legend, decided to embark on a journey to the high mountains. The labyrinthine path presented challenges, and only a few managed to find the right path. With faith and determination, they vowed not to give up until they recovered their musical essence. On their journey, they encountered beings and figures who offered them tempting sounds and beautiful instruments in exchange for abandoning their search, but they never succumbed to temptation and continued, certain of reaching their goal.

One night, they spotted a flickering light among the boulders next to a river that ran through the mountain. As they approached, the light grew brighter and more intense. Finally, they reached the foot of a rock and discovered the magical cave, with a door illuminated by red lights inscribed with their names and a warm welcome. The light they had seen came from the depths of the river, illuminating a bridge that connected to the cave’s portal.

Without hesitation, they crossed the bridge, and as they walked, the door opened by itself. Upon entering, they felt a deep peace and tranquility enveloping them as they advanced. The darkness intensified with each step, until they reached a point where they could see nothing. For the first time, they found themselves free from all interference from the outside world. As they continued walking, their senses began to unravel, and the edges of their bodies began to glow. They stopped walking and began to float, as if ascending into the dawn of a new day. Although they weren’t seeing with their eyes, they could see clearly in the darkness.

Excited, they focused individually to learn how to control their new powers and use them to locate their original sounds. Each instrument chose its path in the labyrinth, emitting vibrations to attract its original sound. They merged with their powers and musical essence. This union strengthened them, allowing them to create and emit different types of frequencies and sounds at will.

Despite being far apart, they were able to communicate telepathically and reunite instantly thanks to their newly discovered power of teleportation. After achieving their goal, they decided to leave the magic cave with the feeling that there was still something more to discover. Levitating toward the entrance they had previously entered, this time they opened the door manually. Upon exiting, they realized they had arrived in another world and that their bodies had transformed into silicon crystal. In this new dimension, love, peace, harmony, and happiness prevailed. Furthermore, with their powers, they were able to decode and experience a wide range of new feelings, enriching themselves with experiences never before imagined.

“Labyrinth” is a metaphorical journey that represents the process of rediscovering one’s essence through confronting challenges, temptations, and introspection. The protagonists, as they embark on a path filled with uncertainties and difficult choices, symbolize the inner journey of every being toward a greater connection with themselves. Upon reaching the magic cave, the portal to new dimensions reflects the transition to a state of clarity, harmony, and transcendence, where darkness gives way to inner light. This process culminates in a transformation that not only restores their identity but elevates them to a more fulfilling existence, highlighting that the awakening of consciousness is not the end of the journey, but rather a starting point toward a universe of possibilities, inner peace, and personal fulfillment. The work suggests that true enlightenment comes from facing our own labyrinths with determination and authenticity, thus reaching a higher level of understanding and universal connection.
