La Bella Cubana is perhaps the most important work of 19th century Cuban music. The piece innovates by merging two Cuban genres of the time, the contradanza and the habanera. José White essentially composed an habanera with a contradanza in the middle. It was originally composed for two violins and orchestra, and this is the first version for solo guitar.
From a morphological and harmonic point of view, this arrangement is faithful to the original work and to the Romantic style. In this Score, La Bella Cubana for solo guitar, careful digitation is employed so as not to lose the overall melodic line.
