Description

Jacaranda is a very tall tree with a purple bloom which is native to South America. This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.

This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusion

Jacaranda is scored for 4 C flutes Alto and Bass flute and is in the key of D minor (concert) with the middle section in D major. The range is around two octaves for all players, and I have tried to keep all parts interesting with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. It also has wide dynamic contrasts and heavy accents, along with legato and staccato phrasing, all of which are effectively used in this genre.

It is set to Intermediate level- it is 4 mins 40 in length and would make a lovely addition to any programme.

The youtube link has the full score so you can assess suitability. Price is for the full score and all parts.

NB There is also a Six C Flute version available as well as a Clarinet Choir version.
