Description
Brass Quintet – Missa Brevis in F – A. Gabrieli
First published in 1565, this work is often referred to as either the Mass in F or the Missa Brevis. This version is missing the Credo so it’s definitey the short one!
I have arranged this for Brass quintet, with the bass and tenor parts occasionally being tacet. The original is only for 4 voices, so it took a little bit of real arranging to get it to work properly on quintet.
Perfectly usable in a liturgical setting and equally at home on the concert stage. This is brand new and fresh.
Andrea Gabrieli was, of course, the uncle of Giovanni Gabrieli and between them they made a huge change to the way music was viewed in the liturgy as well as at festivals and celebrations.
