Description
A lovely and unusual Christmas carol, not often sung in the UK. It’s a beautiful, simple melody with plain
accompaniment, here set for brass quintet. This work is by Paul Gerhardt, a little-known contemporary of Bach and Handel.
accompaniment, here set for brass quintet. This work is by Paul Gerhardt, a little-known contemporary of Bach and Handel.
In the third verse, I have added a ‘descant part’ for 1st Trumpet or Eb Piccolo trumpet, which goes quite high.
Parts are supplied for? Trumpet 1/piccolo, Trumpet 2, Horn in F, Tenor Horn, Trombone (treble/Bass clefs), Tuba/Eb Bass (Bass/Treble clefs).
I have called this an advanced/advanced intermediate level because the 1st trumpet obbligato part goes high (D above the staff) a couple of times, but it’s less difficult on the Eb trumpet/cornet. All the other parts are easy
