Description
An arrangement for brass band of the well-known carol. Featuring baritones and
horns in the opening, this leads to a verse featuring the repiano
cornet but with cornet and trombone fanfares to give an air of the
mystery of the event. The third and final verse is for full band and is
written in a triumphant and majestic style. A big feature of this final
verse is the tubular bell carillon that underpins the verse.
This is a joyous setting of the carol that would make a glorious
addition to any Christmas programme.
When I presented this arrangement to my own band, I discovered that John Henry Gauntlet was related (Great great uncle) to two of the band members!
