Allensbank March for Wind/Military (Concert) Band
Allensbank is a march originally written for Brass Band by Hugh Vaughan Wallis and arranged here for Concert Band by the composer. It is in typical British march style.
Allensbank is a suburb of Cardiff, Wales where the composer’s ancestors farmed in the late 1800s, so the name seemed especially appropriate. Additionally, the name “Allen” has significance as being the name of the lake on which he owns a cottage, where some of the work on this march was done.
This piece was chosen by the Canadian Band Association for their virtual band weekend in April 2021 where it received positive reviews from such contemporary Brass Banding greats as Bob and David Childs, of Cory and Black Dyke fame, who were the guest conductors at that event.
